How Does it Work?
The Dri-Rod works off a rather simple principle. First, the rod will create a stable environment inside the safe, reducing changes in temperature and minimizing moisture inside the safe. Second, as the air is warmed around the Dri-Rod the warm air begins to move in an upward motion. Thus, the reality of "warm air rising" will aid in keeping the safe dry.
Almost all gun safes either have a plug hole in the top of the safe for venting or the moisture is forced out through the front dial. If a Dri-Rod is used in a safe with a hole in the top, the hole should remain unplugged while the rod is in operation. If the safe doesn't have a hole, the moisture will be forced out through the front dial. As the warm air moves and expands inside the safe the damp air is forced out of the safe and creates a stable environment.
Why a Dri-Rod?
A Dri-Rod in a safe is the best way to make sure rust or mildew will not damage or destroy the contents of the safe.
Many times an individual will place a gun or something valuable in the safe with moisture being trapped inside (totally unknown to the owner). The Dri-Rod will eliminate this type of moisture and protect the contents of the safe.
Where should I place the Rod?
The Dri-Rod should be installed at the lowest point possible in the safe, in the horizontal position. The Dri-Rod can be mounted to the side wall or to the floor of a safe by using some screws in the Dri-Rod mounting brackets. The Dri-Rod can be operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, some owners only operate the Dri-Rod during the most humid times of the year. We strongly recommend the Dri-Rod be placed on a surge protector.
How Much Electric Will it Use?
Most of our units only draw 7 watts or 10 watts. This is about the same as a night light in your home.
How Hot Does the Dri-Rod get?
All the rods are tested and have a surface temperature of about 125 degrees. At this temperature the rod will not damage any of the contents of your safe.
Helpful Hints!
Many Dri-Rod customers will operate the Dri-Rod on a wall timer and cycle the unit a few hours during each day.
If the Dri-Rod does not heat up within about 15 minutes, re-install the plug as outlined on the packaging (99% of our customer service calls deal with proper installation of the plug).
Place the Dri-Rod on a surge protector. If the rod quits heating usually a voltage surge has damaged the rod. Return it to the manufacturer for a replacement!

What Is No Damp & How Does It Work?
